What an echocardiogram is.
An echocardiogram, often called an echo, is an ultrasound of the heart. It uses sound waves, not radiation, to create moving images of the heart's chambers, valves, and pumping function. It is painless and well tolerated.
Providers commonly order an echo to look at things like heart function, valve concerns, shortness of breath, or to follow a known cardiac condition over time. Your ordering provider decides when an echo is the right test. Big Sky coordinates and captures the imaging; interpretation is handled by Rapid Radiology, and results go back to the ordering provider.
