Understanding EKG

What an EKG is.

An EKG, also written ECG, records the heart's electrical activity through small sensors placed on the skin. It is quick, painless, and one of the most common first-line tests for the heart.

Providers commonly order an EKG to look at things like heart rhythm, palpitations, chest discomfort, or as part of a routine cardiac check. Your ordering provider decides when an EKG is the right test. Big Sky coordinates and captures the tracing; interpretation is handled by Rapid Radiology, and results go back to the ordering provider.

EKG rhythm tracing
How it works

Three simple steps.

1. A provider places the order

Send a referral online or call us. No portal logins or new software to learn.

2. We image in-clinic or come to the patient

The patient visits a nearby hub, or our technician brings the equipment to their location.

3. Results go back to the provider

The tracing is interpreted by Rapid Radiology and the report returns to the ordering provider.
